Our elderly patients are super sweet. They usually make stuff and food for us as a token of appreciation. This one patient made smoked pork belly burnt ends and OMG it was so good our kids kept asking for more.

Just like that, in a blink of an eye, 20 years has passed since I was a student doing my clinical clerkship at Cook County Hospital Chicago. Living in a 500 sqft studio, in the middle of downtown Chicago, where I could roll out of bed and be right in front of my stove has taught me a lot 😆. I like to keep this badge around to remind me how far I've progressed.
Found this hanging out on the wall at our old school in downtown Chicago before they demolished the old campus back in 2003. It has been by my side at every desk and office I've sat at as a student and now in private practice. Serves as a reminder of what it is all about. 😆
Wow. A gift from a patient of mine through an art technique called stippling (the creation of a pattern stimulating varying degrees of solidity or shading by using small dots by hand.) Told him I used to walk pass Wrigley Field every other day when I was living up there and he wanted to create something that could remind me of it amazing!
